FreeScan is designed as a local-first document scanner. Scans, PDFs, and offline English OCR text are stored on your Android device unless you choose to share, print, or export them.

FreeScan ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles information when you scan, organize, print, and share documents.

2. Information We Use

Camera access to capture paper documents, receipts, notes, forms, IDs, and similar materials
Gallery or photo access when you choose an existing image to scan
Scanned page images, document names, page order, generated PDFs, and local document organization data
Offline English OCR text created from scans when you enable text recognition
Local app preferences and settings used to support the scanning workflow

3. How We Use Information

To detect document edges and let you adjust the selected page area
To create, preview, reorder, save, and organize multipage PDF documents
To run offline English text recognition and make saved scans searchable on your device
To let you print, share, or export documents when you choose to do so
To remember local settings that make the app easier to use

4. Data Storage and Security

FreeScan stores scan data locally on your Android device. The app does not require a user account, cloud sync, or an external OCR service for its core scanning and offline English text recognition features. You control any PDFs or files that you export, print, share, move, or delete.

5. Third-Party Services

FreeScan uses Android system features such as the camera, gallery picker, printing, storage, and sharing sheets. When you choose to share or print a PDF, your selected receiving app, printer service, or Android system component may process that file according to its own privacy practices.

6. Your Choices

Grant or deny camera and photo permissions in Android settings
Delete scans, PDFs, and recognized text from inside the app if supported, or from device storage
Clear app storage or uninstall FreeScan to remove local app data from your device
Choose whether to run offline English OCR before saving a scan

7. Children’s Privacy

FreeScan is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
